Bernie Moreno Statement on Ohio GOP Censure Vote Reports

Bernie Moreno, candidate for US Senate, released the following statement after reports that the Ohio Republican Party plans to censure U.S. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez for his vote to impeach President Donald J. Trump:

“It has been 111 days since a very small group of ‘Republicans,’ including Ohio Congressman Anthony Gonzalez, voted with all of the Democrats to impeach an historic President who had already left office. State Republican Party organizations across the country acted swiftly to censure members that went against the will of their constituents and supported the sham impeachment. The Ohio Republican Party JUST NOW got around to censuring Gonzalez; the chairman at the time, Jane Timken, said that Gonzalez had ‘a rational reason’ for voting to impeach the President. She failed to take action before she left to pursue a political career. The Party is unified behind the policy victories of Donald J. Trump! Elected officials need to actually represent the people they serve, and there are consequences when they do not.” – Bernie Moreno

Today, Fox News reported:
“The Ohio Republican Party will vote on a resolution this week to censure the GOP members of Congress who voted to impeach former President Trump in February, Fox News has learned.

The resolution takes aim at the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump this year, including Ohio Rep. Anthony Gonzalez and the number three Republican in the House, Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Republicans with knowledge of the resolution tell Fox News. “
