Bernie Moreno Praises Senate Passage of Legislation to Re-purpose Unspent COVID Relief Dollars for Infrastructure

This week the United States Senate passed the State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Fiscal Recovery, Infrastructure and Disaster Relief Flexibility Act with overwhelming bipartisan support which would allow unspent COVID relief money to be spent on infrastructure. Bernie Moreno has advocated for this common-sense position for months.

“It’s time we stop the highway robbery of taxpayers in order to pay for our highways,” Bernie Moreno said. “The infrastructure bill is fiscally irresponsible costing the taxpayers over a TRILLION dollars, while at the same time our country has billions of dollars in unspent COVID relief money. That’s why I’ve consistently called for COVID relief funds to be repurposed for infrastructure before the politicians spend more money we don’t have. It’s common-sense and something we need more of in Congress. Unfortunately, one of my fellow candidates just wants to continue the irresponsible spending of the Democrats and my other fellow candidates only have the vision to say no to the infrastructure bill.”

Bernie Moreno also called on Tim Ryan to support the legislation.

“Tim Ryan has spent his entire adult life in Congress and made millions from the taxpayers,” Moreno added. “Now he has a chance to actually do something right for his constituents. I hope he’ll join me in supporting this legislation and opposing the infrastructure package, saving taxpayers money while still improving our state’s infrastructure.”
