Bernie Moreno Attacks Critical Race Theory & Cancel Culture at Columbus Academy

Columbus Academy holds itself as the premier private school in Columbus. It charges up to $30,900 a year for the children of wealthy families to attend. Its Head of School says, “we are committed to preparing students for the joyful and challenging complexities of our diverse world.” The school recently unenrolled students from two families who dared to push back on the teaching of critical race theory at the school.

“The Board of Trustees at schools like Columbus Academy are failing their students by pushing critical race theory and silencing dissent,” Bernie Moreno said. “This is what happens when the Board of Trustee is full of liberal activists and Democratic donors.  Rather than preparing students for the diversity of thought that makes our country great, they are teaching the students critical race theory.  They are teaching that the only way to think is through a liberal lens where everyone is defined by the color of their skin and that white people are inherently racist. When someone dares to disagree, the school cancels them. This is exactly the kind of silencing of thought and speech that became common in countries like Venzuela that surrounded Colombia. We all need to stand up and speak out to stop it from happening here. My mom taught my six siblings and me to love America when we came here.  Schools should be teaching children to love America, not hate it.”

Bernie Moreno believes in educational freedom, opportunity scholarships, charter schools, and school choice, so that all students have access to a great education.

“Every child deserves a first-rate, high quality education,” Moreno added. “Great education should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford expensive tuition payments.”
